What is Reiki?

​Reiki, pronounced 'Ray-Key', is a Japanese healing system discovered in the early 1900s by a Japanese Buddhist monk called Mikao Usui.

​Reiki means 'universal life energy'. When you are connected to this loving energy during a reiki treatment it gently flows through you, initiating your body's own natural ability to heal itself and re-balance. Reiki releases energy blockages and allows your life-force to flow freely.

​There are no contraindications for Reiki so this treatment is suitable for everyone including pregnant women, children, babies and your pets.

Reiki and children

​The beneficial effects of Reiki for children are numerous. It heals fear and anxiety and promotes feelings of safety, calmness and a healthy sense of well-being. Reiki also helps them develop self-confidence, the ability to get along with others and improves learning ability. It is soothing and promotes the healing process. It keeps children healthy and less prone to imbalances, and if they do get sick, it helps them deal with illness and recover more quickly! Reiki can also be a solution to many childhood difficulties including just not feeling good, bullying, divorce, school pressures etc. For children and horse riding, that have lost confidence, had an accident, finding things challenging please go to my equine page. I find that the remote sessions work best for children, they are done at bedtime, there is no communication required and the upsets are cleared out the system in a gentle way. Communication is from the parents to myself and we go on the results seen on the following day.

Children who have received Reiki before and after birth are more open and caring toward others and tend to be peacemakers among their playmates.

Reiki sessions are especially beneficial for women during pregnancy as it helps both the mother and the unborn child. It also increases relaxation, decreases pain during childbirth, helps release fears and helps create a healthier delivery. Reiki in the first month after birth helps settle baby’s, helping them adjust to the new environment and all the different energies. The sessions help positive sleeping patterns.

​What happens during a treatment?

Experiences during a Reiki treatment vary. Some people see beautiful colours and images that mean something to them, some feel a slight tingling sensation, others feel heat or cold in certain areas. Some feel floaty and light whilst others may feel heavy and grounded. Some people may also cry or laugh as blocked energy is released.

​People often fall asleep during their session which is brilliant, as relaxing at this level helps the body greatly.

​When will I see results?

Most clients feel some relief after just one session, others may need a block of 6 for the Reiki energy to do its work, and to see improvement of long standing issues.  Some clients go onto the monthly maintenance remote sessions to keep on top of their general wellbeing. These are not available to buy on the website, please contact to bank transfer.

The powerful healing energy of Reiki can bring many benefits for pets as well as their owners. Pets relax more in their own home environment and the distant method is what I find works best, however should you prefer a home visit, please ask, fees vary due to location.

Benefits for pets may include:

• Alleviating anxiety, stress, nervousness and producing a state of calm

• Behaviour issues, trauma, separation anxiety,

• Increasing energy levels and overall well-being

• Complements veterinary treatment and helps the immune system to work well

• Helping the body’s own healing process to work well after surgery, injury or trauma

• Relieving aches, pains, strains and allergies

• Addressing issues with the coat, skin or feathers

• Getting pets through depression or bereavement, pets also suffer from grief.

• Owners benefit from knowing they are passing along loving kindness and healing, all of which strengthens the bond between you and your pet.

​Distance Reiki Treatment and fees

​With this option, the entire session is conducted remotely without being face-to-face, at a suitable time when you can relax without any disturbances. If you are unable to travel or if you prefer the convenience, I have many clients that only use this method. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. My clients include members of the NHS throughout the UK. Distance Reiki is just as powerful as face-to-face treatments so you will still feel the same benefits. I will contact you before the session starts and once the session is over so we will share feedback. It is important to ensure you are sitting or lying down when the treatment takes place.

Sara Hope Brown came into my life for a reason. I remember a few years ago, I moved my horse to another yard and he was hating it. He was about breaking his stable door, barging people etc. I put him in his stable one night and he instantly went from charging at his door to being calm and relaxed, lip hanging when Sara sent her Reiki. He was like a different horse. When I went away for the weekend last year I asked Sara to send my rescue cat some reiki while I was away as my mum was only coming into feed her. When I rescued her. she never left her basket in 5 weeks and had ptsd. A very nervous shy cat who would only come to me. When I came home she came out to meet everyone that came in. This was 9 months after I rescued her so a massive deal! Again like a different cat. And when it comes to me when I 1st started dog grooming my back was agony for around 7 months. I thought I was going to have to give it up. I was on super strong pain killers, tried chiropractor and sports massages, nothing worked. I signed up for 3 distant healing sessions thinking it might take the edge off. After one session I was up and about before I even realised that I've not had to stretch the usual 20 mins to even contemplate getting out of bed.
